Growth and sustainability in harmony

Sustainability

The sustainable orientation of its business activities is of high importance to Best in Parking. Only the interplay of various sustainability aspects ensures the company’s resilience and long-term success. Sustainability not only encompasses environmental issues but also considers social aspects and focuses on good corporate governance.

ESG-Policy Statement
With our ESG Policy Statement, signed by CEO Johann Breiteneder, we affirm our commitment to sustainable corporate governance. This declaration is a clear commitment to our principles and goals in the areas of environment, social, and governance.

Integrated Management System

Best in Parking operates an integrated management system certified to ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety), and ISO 27001 (Information Security). These internationally recognized standards underscore our commitment in these areas and our aspiration for continuous improvement as well as long-term sustainable value creation.

UN Global Compact
In 2024, Best in Parking AG’s parent company, Breiteneder Immobilien Parking AG, joined the UN Global Compact. As a supporter of the UN Global Compact, we are committed to promoting the ten universal principles and the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The UN Global Compact provides us with a binding framework for our actions and is a clear public commitment to engage in the areas of environment, human rights, labor standards and anti-corruption in the coming years.

Environment

By 2050, approximately 70% of the world's population will live in cities, leading to significant challenges, particularly in terms of mobility and urban planning. Cars will remain an essential part of the mobility mix, especially in and around urban centers. In 2025, approximately 11 million new cars were registered in Europe – around 2% more than the previous year, continuing the steady upward trend of recent years. With innovative concepts, a focus on sustainability, and a commitment to digitalization, Best in Parking delivers efficient and sustainable solutions that address both land sealing and CO₂ emissions.

At Best in Parking, we are increasingly focussing on renewable energies in order to actively promote the energy transition. The majority of our locations are already supplied with green energy and we utilise suitable areas to generate solar energy. We currently operate two photovoltaic systems and a further four locations are in the planning stage. To reduce energy consumption, we mainly rely on LED lighting and smart energy concepts. These investments and measures are decisive steps towards reducing our ecological footprint and making an active contribution to climate protection.

The market for electric vehicles in Europe has seen significant growth in recent years. In 2025, battery electric vehicles accounted for around 19% of all new passenger car registrations in Europe, up 4 percentage points from the previous year. In view of this ongoing development, the Group plans to significantly expand its network of charging stations for electric vehicles. As of June 2026, the Group operates over 900 e-charging points. Our aim is to expand this network to 1,000 charging points in the medium term and, where possible, to power them with our own solar energy. With these measures, we want to strengthen the infrastructure for electromobility and make our contribution to sustainable mobility.

For the years 2023, 2024 and 2025, we have already prepared greenhouse gas reports based on ESRS E1-6, which have been audited by EY. These reports cover our direct emissions (Scope 1) as well as indirect emissions (Scope 2). This greenhouse gas balance forms the basis for our Net Zero Strategy 2040, which is guided by the principles of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Our goal is to sustainably reduce the Group's environmental impact through clearly defined measures and to achieve Net Zero (Scope 1 and 2, market-based) by 2040.
Between 2023 and 2025, our greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1 and 2) were significantly reduced. Market-based emissions were cut by 70%, driven primarily by the extensive shift to renewable energy in Italy. Location-based emissions also declined by 6.4%, supported in part by improvements in the electricity mix with a higher share of renewable energy.

Detailed information can be found in the Greenhouse Gas Report 2025.

  • Net Zero by 2040 (Scope 1 & 2, market-based)
  • Supply of all locations with renewable energy
  • Expansion of own electricity production – additional photovoltaic systems planned
  • Further expansion of energy-efficient LED lighting
  • Expansion of the EV charging network to over 1,000 charging points
  • Continuous development of the environmental management system (ISO 14001)
  • Supporting public authorities in developing climate-friendly mobility concepts (e.g., lower CO₂ emissions through reduced search traffic for parking)
  • Climate-conscious planning of new parking areas through optimal land use and construction materials

Social

At Best in Parking, social sustainability is seen as an essential part of the corporate culture. Efforts are aimed at creating an inclusive and diverse working environment in which the well-being of employees and customers takes centre stage.

At Best in Parking, diversity and inclusion are key components of our corporate philosophy and ESG strategy. With the Health and Safety Policy Statement, signed by CEO Johann Breiteneder, Best in Parking is reinforcing its efforts to prioritise the health and well-being of employees and customers even more. To this end, a comprehensive health and safety strategy and a "Safety at Work" campaign have been developed. As part of this programme, measures are being implemented to further improve workplace health and safety. In addition, we offer targeted programmes for employees that promote mental and physical health.

Best in Parking is actively involved in the creation of new urban living spaces to improve the quality of life in cities. We support public administrations in the development of climate-friendly mobility concepts to reduce CO₂ emissions through reduced parking search traffic and to create additional open spaces for catering and recreational purposes. We are also committed to preserving cultural heritage by supporting the restoration of monuments.

As a member of ZOVI (Zukunftsoffensive Verkehr & Infrastruktur), Best in Parking AG is helping to make Austria a leader in the field of eco-efficient infrastructure and thus sustainably develop into a liveable, competitive location. At ZOVI, the transport, energy and digitalisation sectors are networked and, together with experts, eco-efficient mobility solutions, clean energy and the expansion of key future technologies are being driven forward.

Governance

For Best in Parking, corporate governance goes beyond compliance with legal requirements, as we focus on ethical principles, transparency and responsible corporate management to create sustainable and long-term value.

Transparency towards our stakeholders is of the utmost importance to us. We are therefore actively working on a sustainability report to share all relevant ESG information transparently. Our aim is to openly present our commitment to sustainability: Where we stand, where we see potential for improvement and what specific sustainability goals we have set ourselves in the medium and long term.

Furthermore, we operate a management system certified in accordance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 standards. Its objective is to promote the health and safety of our employees, minimize environmental impacts, ensure information security and continuously improve the overall performance of our company.

Since 2024, an ESG Committee of the Supervisory Board has been monitoring and advising on the organisation’s strategies and objectives in the areas of environmental, social and governance (ESG). The all-female ESG Committee consists of Jo Cooper, Bettina Breiteneder and Julia Leeb and meets at least quarterly.

  • Continuous development and improvement of our management system, certified in accordance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and ISO 27001
  • Publication of a sustainability brochure referring to the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS)
