Brussels, 17 September 2025 – The European Parking Association (EPA) proudly announced the winners of the 2025 European Parking Awards at a ceremony in Brussels. In his opening remarks, EPA Vice-President Stefan Sadleder emphasized how parking has evolved from a static function into a dynamic, digital and customer-focused element of urban mobility. With a record 54 entries, the Awards highlighted excellence in design, accessibility, integration and sustainability.

We are pleased to announce that Best in Parking has won in Category 1: Best New Parking Structure for the Città Alta parking facility in Bergamo (Italy). The project was highlighted as a remarkable example of how parking infrastructure can contribute to urban regeneration, combining technological innovation, sustainability and respect for cultural heritage. It was emphasized that the facility brings a significant improvement to the urban environment and sets a strong benchmark for future mobility solutions in historic city contexts.

About the project

Opened in 2024, the underground parking facility in Bergamo’s historic centre, Città Alta, offers 469 spaces on eight levels beneath a newly created park, directly above the 16th-century Venetian walls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Developed in close cooperation with the City of Bergamo, the project combines advanced engineering and context-sensitive design to protect the historic fabric and enhance the urban landscape.

The facility marks a milestone in Bergamo’s urban planning, showing how parking can be more than a mobility service – it can be an asset for urban regeneration. As part of a broader strategy to reduce private traffic in the historic centre, it promotes sustainable alternatives, supports public space preservation and contributes to a better quality of life. With its innovative, environmentally respectful approach, the Città Alta parking facility stands as a replicable model for historic cities across Europe.
