Best in Parking AG acquires 50% stake in smart city specialist Verso Altima
Best in Parking AG complements its digital service offering by acquiring a stake in the IT company Verso Altima d.o.o. The acquisition not only supports the core business, but also the long-term transformation process from a pure parking operator to a pioneer for "smart & climate active cities".
Vienna/Zagreb, 10 January 2023. As a leading developer, owner and operator of parking and mobility infrastructure in Central and Southeastern Europe, Best in Parking takes another important step in its digital transformation with the acquisition of a 50% stake in Verso Altima d.o.o.. Verso Altima, based in Zagreb (Croatia) with more than 150 employees, is an internationally recognised business integrator in the areas of software, networks and IoT. In addition to Croatia, the company has offices in five European countries. With its 20 years of experience, Verso Altima has specialised in digital and green transformation in recent years, with a focus on smart city solutions in the CEE region. In addition to parking and e-charging, the solutions developed individually for the respective cities include, for example, lighting, energy and water consumption, air quality, traffic management, smart digital payment solutions, efficient building management and cyber security solutions. All with the aim of creating sustainable, intelligent, connected and safe cities.
"Smart city expertise plays a central role in the company's strategy. After all, mobility must increasingly become smarter, more climate-friendly and more digital, which is why efficient parking and traffic management is indispensable for the cities of the future," emphasizes Johann Breiteneder, CEO of Best in Parking AG: ''With our investment in Verso Altima, we are even going one step further. We are not only deepening our digital competencies, but also strengthening our position as an active partner of public administrations in order to increase the quality of life, especially in urban areas, and at the same time to act in a resource-saving way. We look forward to future collaboration with the qualified and successful team and management of Verso Altima.''
Digital and green transformation are the two basic directions of the European Union to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. The digital transformation supports the European Green Deal through smarter and greener use of technology. This technology enables improvements in energy and resource efficiency, facilitates the circular economy and leads to a better distribution of resources. At the same time, emissions are reduced and biodiversity loss and environmental degradation are counteracted. The experts at Verso Altima have the necessary know-how to implement the digital and green transformation – the participation of Best in Parking AG is now intended to strengthen its international presence and win new customers for its own development solutions.
"We are happy to close the first 20 years of our company's history with this great event. A new phase of company growth and portfolio consolidation begins - we will be at the forefront of creating sustainable and self-sufficient cities in the future," explains Mario Gerenčir, Director of Verso Altima Group. "The change in ownership structure and the additional investments will enable faster and higher quality development, increase the visibility of reference products, create new jobs and invest in research and development. We are honoured that Best in Parking AG has chosen our company as an important strategic partner with which they can achieve their long-term strategic goals," concludes Gerenčir.
This investment also enables synergies with the subsidiary RAO d.o.o., which was acquired in 2021. With 25 years of experience, RAO provides software solutions for the efficient management and control of public parking and road space, as well as billing systems, access and ticketing solutions for national and nature parks, recreational facilities and marinas.
